The Coastal Aquaculture Authority, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt. of India signed MoU with ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIBA) for knowledge partnership and technical collaboration for promoting scientific farming systems and technologies through digital media, digital advisory services, capacity building initiatives, awareness programmes, conferences, technical sessions, and industry outreach activities for the benefit of aquaculture farmers and other stakeholders. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the National Workshop on Aquaculture Land Use Planning – Gaps, Challenges and Way forward organised by the ICAR-CIBA on 29.06.2026 at Chennai in the presence of Shri. Devasenapathy, IAS, the Secretary, CAA and Dr. Kuldeep K Lal, Director, ICAR-CIBA.
The Secretary, CAA articulated that the collaboration shall facilitate exchange of scientific knowledge, expert participation, dissemination of innovative technologies and best management practices, Responsible Coastal Aquaculture practices, Environmental safeguards in coastal aquaculture and strengthening of industry-research interactions for the benefit of stakeholders and the scientific community in respect of the matters covered under this agreement.
Through this MoU ICAR CIBA shall share scientific information, technical inputs, and best management practices to the sector, facilitate CAA in dissemination of brackishwater aquaculture technologies and innovations to the sector and also in participate in outreach, awareness, and capacity-building initiatives organised by the CAA, said Dr. Kuldeep K Lal, Director, ICAR-CIBA.
