ICAR-CIBA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lotus Aqua feeds Ramnathapuram, Tamil Nadu on 19th May 2026 for the technology transfer of ‘CIBA EHP Cura Gro plus’.

Ecytonucleospora hepatopenaei is a microsporidian intracellular pathogen that targets the hepatopancreas of shrimp, causing stunted growth and severe economic losses in shrimp aquaculture. To address the challenge, ICAR-Centra Institute of Brackish Water Aquaculture developed a natural phytobioitc named ‘CIBA EHP Cura Gro plus’ for the effective treatment of EHP infection.

Dr. Kuldeep K.Lal, Director, ICAR-CIBA, highlighted the severity of EHP pathogen in shrimp aquaculture and emphasised the significance of ‘CIBA EHP Cura Gro plus’ in combating the disease.

Dr T. Sathish kumar, Scientist and principal investigator, briefed the gathering on the development of the phytobiotic and its efficacy in controlling EHP, while enhancing feed intake, shrimp growth, and survival during field validation trials conducted across 114 shrimp farms in five states of India, namely Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab, and Gujarat, under diverse farming factors.

Shri M. Selva Kumar of Lotus Aqua feeds Ramnathapuram, Tamil Nadu shared his experience of using the product under field level, and expressed satisfaction with its performance. He also conveyed his willingness to sign the MoU and congratulated the team involved in developing the product.

The event was organized by the Institute Technology Management Unit (ITMU) of ICAR-Centra Institute of Brackish Water Aquaculture, and the Heads of various divisions attended the meeting.
