ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIBA), Chennai, in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nellore-I, Andhra Pradesh, organised an awareness programme on promoting Soil Health Management and Balanced Use of Fertilizer on 05.05.2026 at Paturu Village, Kovur Mandal, SPSR Nellore District,  Andhra Pradesh. The programme was organized to create awareness among farmers on the need to enhance Fertilizer Use Efficiency (FUE) while maintaining soil fertility. About 48 farmers attended and benefited from the programme. Subject matter specialists from the KVK and scientists from ICAR-CIBA explained various subjects covering key topics such as soil health card-based manure and fertilizer application, substitution of DAP with indigenous fertilizer single super phosphate, application of bio-fertilizer like Azospirillum and integrated nutrient management practices to the farmers. Under the guidance of Dr. Kuldeep K Lal, Director, ICAR-CIBA, scientists from CIBA introduced farmers to CIBA Horti+, a fish waste-based bio-fertilizer developed by ICAR-CIBA for boosting the soil fertility, which can be made available on a request basis.
