On the day of 74th Independence day celebrations on 15th August 2020 Dr. Joykrushna Jena, DDG (Fisheries), ICAR, opened the Main gates and Compound wall of ICAR-CIBA, Chennai through digital platform in the presence of Dr.K.K.Vijayan, Director, CIBA, Chennai.  Scientists, staff members and students of CIBA participated in the function.

In his address DDG highlighted the importance of the main gate of an institution as its generate the first impression. He appreciated the prominence of elegant and aesthetic look of the new gate and  entrance to the institute, and congratulated the director, scientist and staff of CIBA for making it possible after a long time. He accentuated on the importance of brackishwater aquaculture sector in Indian agricultural and rural economy,  and appreciated CIBA’s achievements and viable technologies to the benefit of brackishwater aquaculture development in the country. He stressed the need for diversification of species in the farming basket and specifically mentioned about the efforts of CIBA in promoting the native Indian white shrimp, across the shrimp farming states.  He underlined the successful partnership model between the CIBA and Mangrove foundation of Maharashtra Government, in promoting the brackishwater cage farming of seabass, for creating employment and income generation for the coastal villagers. He congratulated the Director and staff members of CIBA for it’s valuable contributions in the sustainable development of brackishwater aquaculture and also building the infrastructure facilities for the institute. Dr. K.K. Vijayan, Director, CIBA, thanked DDG (fisheries) for his time for inauguration and address, and also  acknowledged the hard work of TEAM  CIBA in the achievements made and  reminded the need to take forward the good work, for the development of the brackishwater aquaculture sector in the country.
