After completing Master’s degree in Agricultural Extension in 1989, from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, joined in Agricultural Research Service as scientist at ICAR in 1991 and joined ICAR-CIBA, Chennai in April 1992. She completed her Ph.D from Anna University, Chennai in 2003. She has handled nine externally funded projects of which two as Principal Investigator and seven as CO-Principal Investigator. Authored 83 research papers in reputed peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings, magazines, book chapters and CIBA special publications. On invitation presented 21 lead papers in international and national forums focusing on the broad themes such as ICT for fisheries development, e-Extension strategies and sustainable livelihood development models in brackishwater aquaculture. Conducted field trials on CIBASTIM Technology in Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur districts of Tamil Nadu and in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh as well as facilitated with the team towards its commercialization. She has organized and coordinated 231 on farm extension programmes comprised of national workshops/seminar/brain storming, training programmes, farmers - scientists interaction meet, method demonstrations, group discussions, awareness programmes, campaigns, exhibitions and radio talks. Presented paper on “Role of fisheries co-operatives and fishermen associations for sustainable development of fisheries in India” in an International Seminar on ‘Role of Fishermen Association in promoting Sustainable Fisheries’, at Tehran, Iran. She has been appointed as a member for the Board of Studies for the Department of Zoology (PG) Gurunanak College, Chennai.
