World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) was observed at ICAR-CIBA during 18th -24th November 2025. On this occasion, an awareness program on antimicrobial resistance and a poster competition on the topic “Power of Antibiotics: use them wisely” was conducted for the students of Gurunanak Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Velachery, Chennai 600042 on 21st November 2025. About 56 students participated in this programme. Students were sensitized about importance of antimicrobials, their judicious use, prevention and control and the alternative therapies in the context of rising AMR across the world. They were also asked to spread the message as much as possible for the benefit of the society. Winners of the poster competition were awarded cash prizes. All the participants were provided with participation certificates. This programme was organised under the “All India Network Project on Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in fisheries and livestock”. Dr. Deboral Vimala D. and Dr. P. Ezhil Praveena, principal scientists & Dr. T. Bhuvaneswari and Dr. Vidya Rajendran, senior scientist from ICAR-CIBA coordinated this programme.
