Honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 at CODISSA Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu on 19th November 2025. As directed by the ICAR the inaugural session of this summit was live telecasted at CIBA headquarters and its field, regional centres. About 193 participants including aquaculture farmers and fishers from Kovalam and Pattipulam villages in Chengalpattu district, Scientists, Technical Officers, Research Scholars and Students participated in the event.

Dr Kuldeep Kumar Lal Director ICAR CIBA presided the event and in his address he stated that aquaculture farmers and fishers need to be sensitized more about the development schemes of the Governments for improving the productivity and profitability of farming sector.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister released the Souvenir of the summit and launched the 21st instalment of PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, accompanied by a short film. His keynote address formed the main highlight of the event and the Honourable Prime Minister highlighted the importance of organic farming and natural farming in India for achieving sustainable productivity and to maintain long term soil fertility and productivity.

Later a Farmers-Scientists interaction was held on the nursery rearing of Asian Seabass fish (Lates Calcarifer) a livelihood activity and the director handed over the fingerlings produced by the women SHG of Kovalam to a fish farmer for grow out farming. This was followed by distribution of Asian Seabass.
