ICAR- Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture Chennai celebrated the National Fish Farmers Day on 10th July 2025 in which about 60 fish farmers from Kottaikadu and Kolathur villages of Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu participated. In this event, CIBA Scientists interacted with fish farmers and fishers on the importance of National Fish farmers Day and about brackishwater aquaculture technologies such as seabass nursery rearing, cage farming, ornamental fish culture, integrated fish and seaweed culture, feed, soil and water quality parameters and Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture. In the interaction session, Shri. Arun, Smt.N. Nandhini and Shri Ravi, members of the Self-Help Groups shared their experiences in cage farming and nursery rearing of Asian seabass under the SCSP scheme implemented by ICAR CIBA and thanked Dr Kuldeep Kumar Lal Director, ICAR CIBA and his project team for all their support.
KRC Kakdwip in West Bengal also celebrated the day with 75 fish farmers and fishers and Shri Madhav Chandra Laya, Member of Sibrampur Gram Panchayat also participated. PlanktonPlus technology in low saline carp culture was explained in detail to the farmers and as a part of crop diversification, pearl spot seeds were distributed. Later, farmers have shared their experiences about KRC Kakdwip technologies, by which they could earn additional income for their livelihood.
NGRC Navsari in Gujarat observed the National Fish Farmers Day with 51 fish farmers in which they were sensitized about the research and extension activities. In addition, a live streaming of the national event organized at the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture in Bhubaneswar, Odisha was also arranged for the participants.

Dani Thomas Scientist in Chengalpattu district, Dr Debasis De HRC Kakdwip, Dr Sanjoy Das PS, Dr Babita Mandal Scientist, Dr N S Sudheer Scientist, Shri I F Biju Scientist and Ms. Moumita Ash Scientist coordinated the celebrations at KRC Kakdwip. The event organized at NGRC Navsari was coordinated by Dr Ritesh Tandel Sr.Scientist, Dr Paresh Rathod Sr.Scientist, Shri Pankaj Patil Scientist, Dr Pragyan Dash Senior Scientist and Shri Jose Antony Scientist.
