Dr. K. Saravanan is serving as a Senior Scientist in the Crustacean Culture Division at ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIBA), Chennai, since 2025. He earned his Ph.D. from ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (ICAR-CIFE), Mumbai. He served the initial eleven years of his career as a Scientist at ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI), Port Blair, where his research was mainly focused on aquatic animal health management, including disease surveillance, diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance, molecular immunology, fish health management and the development of disease control measures. In addition to his core expertise, he has also gained experience in aquaculture practices and related interdisciplinary areas, such as fish nutrition.
