Swachhta Pakhwada at Gangadharpur, West Bengal on 29th May 2017

Kakdwip Research Centre of ICAR-CIBA, Kakdwip, West Bengal has observed the Swachhta Pakhwada at Gangadharpur village, South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal by conducting awareness programme followed by cleaning at farming village on 29th May 2017. Around 50 coastal farmers including local panchayat representatives and CIBA team participated in the programme. In the first phase of the programme, the attending villagers were informed about the Swachh Bharat Mission and its objectives, and importance of cleanliness at personal, domestic and public places by the Officer-in-Charge of KRC of ICAR-CIBA. Local village Panchayat representative from the said village was present, and he emphasized on the importance of cleanliness, and urged the people to make a clean locality. In the second phase, CIBA team along with the village farmers participated in cleaning of roads and market area to make aware and motivate the local people to keep their area clean and healthy. KRC of ICAR-CIBA handed over cleaning materials like a plastic bin and broom sticks to the panchayat representative for their use towards regular cleaning of village premises.
