Swachhta Pakhwada at Kottaikadu village, Tamil Nadu on 26th May 2017

ICAR-CIBA conducted the Swachhta Pakhwada on 26th May 2017 in Anganvadi School, Kottaikadu village (adopted for MGMG programme), Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu, to create awareness among the children and villagers on cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation. Dr. Mrs. P. Mahalakshmi, Senior Scientist and Nodal Officer Swatchh Bharat Mission of CIBA explained the aim and objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission, importance of reducing open defecation and water management to the villagers. Dr.M.Kumaran, Principal Scientist, CIBA, sensitized the villagers and school children about the importance of hygiene and health aspects. Cleaning materials such as broom sticks, dustbins, buckets, mugs etc., were distributed to the school for regular cleaning and hygiene maintenance. The school premises were cleaned with active participation of the villagers and teachers. Fifty participants including students, teachers, community leaders and CIBA team participated in the programme.
