Swachhta Pakhwada “Cleanliness fortnight” at T.Kulathur Villege, Chitamur block, Kanchipuram District on 25th October 2016

ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture organized the Swachhta Pakhwada “Cleanliness fortnight” at T.Kulathur Villege, Chitamur block, Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu on 25th October 2016 to create awareness on cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation among the villagers, fish farmers and farm women’s, around 150 villagers actively participated in the programme. During the program the people cleaned the village pond and the premises of Panchayat Service Centre. The villagers were sensitized the importance of natural resource management, water harvesting and conservation, self help principles and health aspects. CIBA Scientists distributed cleaning material to the panchayat board member Mr. Perumal for keeping them in the village custody and use them for cleaning common places. Woman folk in large number turned for the programme which indicates the keen interest the villager shown on the theme and they assured that they would maintain cleanliness of the households and their environment.
Mr. A. Perumal, Panchayat board member, Mr. Prem kumar, Mr. Giri, office bearers of Dr.APJ Abdulkalam Fish Producers Self Help Group participated in the programme and thanked ICAR- CIBA in conducting this initiative in their village and helping the village fisher youth, in developing alternative livelihoods through fish culture in open waters.
