Division : Crustacean Culture Division
Specialization : Morphometric characterization of finfish/shellfish; Genetic characterization of finfish/shellfish
Research areas:
  • Morphometric characterization of finfish/shellfish
  • Genetic characterization of finfish/shellfish
Brief profile:

After taking masters with specialization in Aquatic Environmental Management (2013), I am working in ICAR-CIBA since 2016 for the development of brackishwater aquaculture. I currently work at Nutrition, Genetics and Biotechnology Division (NGBD) in CIBA. I am working on the population genetic studies in Penaeid shrimp. I have interest in the morphometric characterization of stocks of Indian white shrimp and Pearlspot. I also have an experience on the induced breeding of yellow catfishes (Horabagrus brachysoma).

Current Research Projects (3 important ones):

NoTitle Funded By
1 Outreach Activity on Fish Genetic StocksInstitute
2Biotechnological interventions and application of bioinformatics tools for improvement of brackishwater fish and shellfishICAR

Recognitions (National & international level) :
  • Awarded first rank in ICAR- SRF (PGS) examination
  • Awarded Institutional fellowship from CIFE, Mumbai

Director's Message...
Present day Indian shrimp farming almost entirely depends on aquaculture of exotic white shrimp, Penaeus vannamei .
Sole dependence on a single species cast doubt about the sustainability of Indian shrimp farming.
