Discipline : Fish Health
Division : Aquatic Animal Health and Environment Division
Specialization : Fish Pathology and Microbiology
Research areas:
  • Fish Pathology.
  • Fish Microbiology.
Brief profile:

After completion of master degree in Central Institute of Fisheries Education in 2010, I am working in Central institute of Brackish water Aquaculture, Chennai since 2014.I currently work in Aquatic Animal Health & Environment division in CIBA. I worked on detection and quantification of Laem-Singh virus (LSNV) in different species of penaeid shrimp for my post-graduation study at Central Institute of Fisheries Education. I studied on the prevalence, host range, molecular epidemiology, experimental infection and relation between slow growth and the presence of LSNV. Presently I am working on investigation of uncertain mortalities in shrimp hatcheries Penaeus (Litopenaeus) vannamei due to zoea II syndrome and in shrimp grow out system such as Running mortality syndrome, White feces syndrome, White muscle syndrome and Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei . My present research interest is on, shrimp larval pathology, disease epidemiology and disease diagnostics.

Director's Message...
Present day Indian shrimp farming almost entirely depends on aquaculture of exotic white shrimp, Penaeus vannamei .
Sole dependence on a single species cast doubt about the sustainability of Indian shrimp farming.
