Pranita Marine, Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh signs MOU, with ICAR-CIBA, for technology transfer of indigenous shrimp feed technology, at Chennai on 14th August 2018

ICAR-CIBA has developed a cost effective and quality shrimp feed using indigenous feed ingredients for vannamei shrimp farming, and the feed is promoted as the ‘Vanami Plus’. The technology along with customized feed mill is being transferred to series of private entrepreneurs and government agencies for up scaling and commercial production on a non-exclusive basis. Adding to the list, Pranita Marines, Bhimavaram Mandalam, Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh signed MoU with ICAR-CIBA on 14th August 2018, for ‘Vanami Plus’ feed technology. The company envisaged to produce shrimp feed with the CIBA’s technical guidance. The feed will meet the demand of aquaculture farmers in and around Bhimavaram which is expected to benefit the shrimp farmers, and to increase the profitability This MOU event was presided by Dr. K.K. Vijayan, Director, ICAR-CIBA, in his opening remarks, highlighted the quality of ‘Vanami Plus’ vis-a-vis cost of production. Further he emphasized that the farmers get an opportunity to source the feed directly from the feed mill to their farm, avoiding the marketing costs and thereby increasing the profitability of farmers, which could help in achieving the moto of doubling of farmer’s income initiative of our Prime Minister. Dr. K. Ambasankar Principal Scientist and team leader for the technology briefed about the significance of this MoU and outlined the genesis of this initiative, and opined that the success of this model would pave the way for many entrepreneurs to enter into this aqua feed business. This event was coordinated by the ITMU-ABI unit of ICAR CIBA and the nutrition team scientists along with ITMU –ABI unit, HODs participated in the meeting. Earlier Dr. T. Ravisankar welcomed the gathering and Dr. P. K. Patil delivered the vote of thanks.
