Veterinary Health Camp at MGMG village - Vennangupattu, Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu on 29-12-2015

As part of the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav programme ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture organised a one day veterinary health campaign in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Kancheepuram district on 29th December 2015, to diagnose and treat the livestock animals at Vennagupattu village (MGMG adopted Village) in Kancheepuram district. The camp was organised at two places in the village and well received by the villagers. About 200 farm and pet animals viz., cattle, goats, poultry and dogs were screened and treated during the campaign. Cattle and goats were vaccinated with Black Quarter vaccines. This camp was organised based on the request from the villagers that the farm animals were showing signs of diseases due to the recent heavy rains and the prevailing inclement weather in the locality.

Besides this, deworming drugs, mineral mixture supplements, B-complex vitamin supplements, antibiotics, antiseptics and disinfectants were distributed to the farmers. The farmers and villagers expressed that the camp was very useful and felt that their need was well addressed by ICAR-CIBA. Dr. Ramesh, Veterinary Surgeon, from the Department of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Dr. Vinaykumar Katneni and Dr. P. Ezhil Praveena, scientists of CIBA and Mr. Prabahar Livestock Inspector, Kadapakkam Village, were present throughout the day and conducted the veterinary camp. The Chairman of the Kadapakkam Municipality inaugurated the camp in the presence of CIBA scientists, village councillors and the village public. Dr. M. Kumaran, Principal Scientist, Dr. P. K. Kumaraguru vasagam, Senior Scientist, Dr. Vinaykumar Katneni and Dr. P. Ezhil Praveena scientists of CIBA coordinated the programme.
