Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is considered as a silent pandemic and the whole world is concerned about the future consequences on the adverse use of antimicrobials. There needs a strong coordination between human, animal, plant and environment sectors towards one health concept. In this regards, ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA), Chennai conducted an awareness programme to sensitize the adverse impact of AMR and the future course of action in tackling the same at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalitha Fisheries University (TNJFU), Nagapattinam on 26th August 2025. More than 90 aqua farmers in and around Nagapattinam attended this programme. The programme was conducted under the ICAR funded “All India Network Project on Antimicrobial Resistance”. Participating on this, scientists from ICAR-CIBA provided the current situation of AMR and the future consequences if it is not taken care immediately. The farmers were requested to realise the gravity of the problem and also suggested for the responsible use of antimicrobials. Farmers were also advised on general production issues and health management practices in aquaculture sector. At the end, farmers interacted with all the scientists and got clarified on several of their doubts.
