In a significant milestone for Indian aquaculture, technologically supported by ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture and financial hand-holding by National Fisheries Development Board under entrepreneurship scheme of PMMSY, M/S Water Fin Pvt. Ltd., a private seabass hatchery, located at Mypadu, Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, started its seed production on 25th May 2025. The hatchery established on the seaside owned land with design and technology from ICAR-CIBA, is a close to 4.8 crore venture, with 5.0 million fry production capacity per annum. The pilot breeding trial was demonstrated by the CIBA team produced the batch of 5.0 lakh larvae and the first of its kind, from VNN (Viral Nervous Necrosis) vaccinated broodstock.
