Forty B.Tech (Biotechnology) final year students of Vel Tech High Tech Dr. Rangarajan Dr. Sakunthala Engineering College (An Autonomous Institution) accompanied by two faculty members visited Muttukadu Experimental Station of CIBA on 13th May 2022. The objective of the visit was to augment their learning and to enhance their understanding on current developments in the field of aquaculture for their higher studies and research. As a part of their visit the students planted tree saplings at Muttukadu Campus. Dr. D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division gave a snapshot on demonstrations and extension activities conducted by ICAR-CIBA for enhancing the livelihood status of the coastal rural communities. Later on, the students made visit to shrimp hatchery and the activities were explained in detail by Shri. S. Rajamanickam, Senior Technical Officer and S. Sudhin Young Professional-I, Crustacean Culture Division and finfish laboratory and farm facilities were highlighted by Shri. G. Thiagarajan, Tech Officer, Fish Culture Division. The students later visited the feed mill and its activities were briefed by Shri E. Abilash, Young Professional-II. The programme was coordinated by Dr. D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist, Social Sciences Division.
